Alison C. Rollins
Alison C. Rollins, "Modern Mrs. Huxtable", is an aspiring entrepreneur with hopes of empowering youth in multiple aspects of their lives. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Alison left home for her undergraduate studies and successfully completed a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Howard University. She then immediately entered a PhD program at Temple University's Department of English. While pursuing her graduate studies, Alison began to suffer hair loss and breakage as a result of stress and juggling a variety of demanding responsibilities. It was during this period that she merged her passion for research with yearning for a better understanding of hair care and hair growth.
After over five years of copiously researching hair care and documenting her hair journey Alison has now reached tail-bone length hair. She is dedicated to sharing her results with others and using her background as a University instructor to inform and educate other women on how to reach their personal hair goals. In an effort to utilize social media to share her story, Alison started a YouTube channel titled "Modern Mrs Huxtable" aimed at advocating for positive multi-faceted female role models as well as educating women on the secrets to healthy long hair. She currently has over 17,000 incredible followers.
Alison spearheads an initiative to share female empowerment messages and encourage positive well rounded depictions of women like that of the iconic Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. Alison focuses on uplifting women in areas such as self-esteem development, finding purpose, and creating sound value systems. She promotes upward mobility for women by advocating for education, empowerment, and elevation at the individual, communal, and global level.
